“ One year in a dying town, told by fourteen people watching one of their own try to decide whether leaving would save her — or finish her off.
The Lights Stay On is a 15-track concept album set entirely in Paragould, Arkansas. Every song is a different pair of eyes on the same 28-year-old woman — her mother, the ex who stayed, the friend who left, the brother who couldn't, the dead father watching from above, a trucker at a Flying J who clocks her look in five seconds and keeps driving.
She doesn't sing a word for the first fourteen tracks. On the fifteenth, she breaks silence. What she says is not what the rest of the album expects.
Pedal steel, fiddle, upright bass, live-room drums. The sonic territory of Tyler Childers' Snipe Hunter and Zach Bryan's American Heartbreak, with the narrative density of a short-story collection. A debut record that lands as a statement.
